Protect U.S. Cancer Surveillance: Urge your House Member to Take Action!

NCRA and our partners are working to protect federal funding to support CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and the NCI’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program in the Administration’s proposed fiscal year 2026 budget. In that budget, CDC-NPCR is eliminated, and the NCI-SEER Program is severely impacted by the proposed 40% funding cuts to NCI. With these two federal programs serving as the backbone of cancer surveillance in the United States, please join us by sending our messages to your Senators and Representative to be sure that US cancer surveillance remains in place and receives appropriate funding.

We had early success with our campaign in the US Senate in Appropriations Committee, but more work needs to be done to ensure that the US House of Representatives continues that momentum.  Also, we need to be sure that the full Senate hears how much Senate Appropriations Committee leadership was appreciated and that we need the full Senate to vote in support Appropriations recommendations as well.

With that, we need your advocacy to support:

  • Support cancer surveillance funding at the same levels recently approved by the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations for FY 2026. Specifically
  • Continuance of the CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and fund it at $53.4 million; and
  • to fund the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at $7.374 billion, which will fully support NCI’s Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program.

Please join NCRA in our efforts to strengthen cancer registries and improve cancer care. Make your voice heard!
